Zendaya is set to star in director Denis Villeneuve’s newly announced science-fiction epic, Eclipse of Asteron, an original film described as a “psychological space odyssey.” The project marks their third collaboration after the success of the Dune franchise. According to early reports, Zendaya will portray a scientist trapped on a collapsing planet where time folds in on itself. Villeneuve, known for visually striking sci-fi masterpieces, has been developing the concept for nearly five years. Production is expected to begin in spring 2026 with filming locations rumored to include Iceland and Jordan. Fans online celebrated the announcement, calling Zendaya “the new face of sci-fi storytelling.” The actress, whose recent projects have been major box-office hits, said the script was “unlike anything I’ve ever read.” The film is set for a 2027 theatrical release and is already being positioned as a major awards contender.
