Deadpool & Wolverine: Did the Merc with a Mouth Save the Day?

A Time-Jumping, Multiverse Mayhem

Deadpool 3 was a time-jumping, multiverse mayhem, but did our favourite anti-hero and his grumpy sidekick, Wolverine, really have a hand in saving Deadpool’s timeline from annihilation? Let’s break that chaotic ending down.

It ushered us into a world where the universe of Deadpool was on its way to dying off, sans, supposedly, its “anchor being”: Wolverine. Cue Wade Wilson, armed with his quick wit and a time-traveling device sets out to find the perfect Logan to save the day.

After trudging through a gazillion Wolverine variants, Deadpool finally gets to a defeated Logan who has lost his will to fight. A little—in fact, a lot of convincing later—they travel back to Deadpool’s world to their ultimate challenge: Cassandra Nova and her army of Deadpool clones.

The climax comes with a very intense battle and a fatal sacrifice by both heroes to prevent Cassandra’s device from destroying the multiverse. At the same time, thanks to their combined healing abilities, Deadpool and Wolverine miraculously survive.

So did they save the day? Yeah, but at a cost. Deadpool’s timeline gets saved, but it creates a new one, entirely apart from the original. And here comes the kicker: Wolverine has decided to stay in Deadpool’s universe, so a lot of interesting options are opened for future team-ups.

Sure, that ending leaves us with endless possibilities, but one thing is clear: Deadpool 3 was an action-, humour-, and multiverse-filled craziness that just left us craving more.
