Anurag Kashyap has a strong slate of upcoming films and projects that span crime dramas, thrillers, and even an acting role. One of his most anticipated films is “Nishaanchi”, a crime drama where he returns as director. This film is set for a theatrical release in September 2025 and features Aaishvary Thackeray in a dual role, along with Vedika Pinto, Monika Panwar, Mohammed Zeeshan Ayyub, and Kumud Mishra. It is expected to focus on themes like identity, conflict, and morality in a crime-filled setting.
Another upcoming directorial venture is “Bandar”, also known as Monkey in a Cage. This is a thriller-crime drama, expected to release in late 2025 or early 2026. The film stars Bobby Deol and Sanya Malhotra in key roles. While plot details are minimal, the tone is expected to be dark and psychological, continuing Kashyap’s tradition of gritty, real-world storytelling.
Kashyap will also appear as an actor in a bilingual action-drama titled “Dacoit”, where he plays Inspector Swamy, a tough and possibly morally ambiguous police officer. The film stars Adivi Sesh and Mrunal Thakur, and is being shot in both Hindi and Telugu. The story reportedly revolves around a vengeful convict and a high-stakes manhunt.
In addition to his directing and acting, Anurag is also stepping in as creative producer for a yet-to-be-titled thriller starring Nushrratt Bharuccha. This project is directed by Akshat Ajay Sharma and produced by Vishal Rana. While the title and plot are under wraps, it is expected to be a tense, fast-paced psychological thriller.
Kashyap’s film “Kennedy” has already premiered at several international film festivals and received critical praise. It stars Rahul Bhat and Sunny Leone. The story centers on an ex-cop with insomnia, believed to be dead, who operates in secret for a corrupt system. The film is currently awaiting a wider theatrical or OTT release.
